Millimeter wave radar is currently mainly used in mid-to-high-end models, and as Volkswagen's trust in the active safety performance of vehicles increases, ADAS-related products will gradually spread to low-end models.
The realization of ADAS functions generally requires "1 long +4 short and medium" 5 millimeter wave radars. The new Audi A4 has five millimeter-wave radars (1 long +4 short) and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has seven millimeter-wave radars (1 long +6 short).
Take the ACC function of automatic follow vehicle (Stop & Go) as an example, generally requires three millimeter-wave radars. A 77GHz LRR in the middle of the car, the detection distance is between 150-250 meters, the Angle is about 10 degrees; One 24GHz MRR on each side of the car, both angles are 30 degrees, and the detection distance is between 50-70 meters.
AEB is a practical ADAS function that will become standard for mid-to-high-end cars in the future, requiring 1 77GHz LRR.
